Falling apart

sorenbarrett

Of a core concealed, now stripped and revealed so little remains
Bits and scraps into twilight collapse, as night nothing contains
Peeled away in layers of decay, petals fall from the flower
With sun's crawl, remove a shawl  shadow's won't stop the hour
A coat dropped, a bubble popped, a crust taken away
Shaving scales from eyes to see morning skies, awakened to a new day

Yep, sounds like KP when her botox melts, or fades away. She goes all saggy - and that's Too Much Information! lol.

This could be the decay of life, old bones tired eyes living out life.
At some point, the eyes won't open ever again to a new day.

Paul you are right on target with what stimulated this write and it went from there. Thank you so much for the read and comment it is most appreciated as always

The poem revolves around the theme of transformation and renewal. It explores the process of shedding layers of the past, confronting decay, and ultimately awakening to new possibilities. The poet reflects a journey through despair and loss, symbolized by imagery of decay and twilight, leading to a moment of clarity and rebirth, represented by the arrival of a new day.

Soren, this lands with a steady force…the falling petals, the dropped coat, the scales shaved away. I’ve known that kind of slow awakening myself, and you write it with a grounded honesty. Love it, my friend. πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦β€β¬›

Apparently you can't step in the same River twice. And maybe we are not the same person today that was here yesterday.
                        Aren't we dying every day?
                        Well said.

That was the starting inspiration that we shed our skin regularly and replace every body cell every seven years so we are not the same person we were seven years ago
