I Partake in Joy

Katie B.

       I Partake in Joy

I partake in joy on occasion

Like a hit, a puff of something illicit

She settles in and sits fully imbibed

She fills me with her grandiosity

In her throne of red velvet

I am compelled to join her

She captures abundance

Filling it to overflow

What she evokes moves me

It’s like the wonder that you can float in water

Her capacity to eliminate emptiness

Brings me to a knowingness that I want

More than just to partake

Your poem “I Partake in Joy” explores the transient yet profound experience of joy, likening it to a momentary high that fills the speaker with a sense of abundance and fulfillment. It reflects a longing for deeper connection and understanding beyond fleeting pleasures.

Substances, knowledge, meditation, spiritual enlightenment, sexual climax, deep profound relationship of love, all point to a sense of enlightenment, joy, extasy nirvana, salvation we all want to partake. Nicely written

Moderation is the key. When is to much joy not enough?

Maybe I should be taking my own advice!

My friend, this shines with soft depth…the red-velvet throne, the buoyancy of floating, the fullness pushing out emptiness. You wrote joy as something embodied, something to dwell in, not just taste. Beautiful piece. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
