When The Night is Still

Katie B.

                                                When the Night is Still

When the night is still

Darkness blankets the glory of day

The sun escapes, expectations cease

Seduced by the thickness of oncoming dew

I breathe in the aroma of sweet magnolias

In the heaviness of night I find restoration

Reaching out in darkness, I lose myself

Slow in thought, movement abysmal

Resigned to lower heavy lids

Responsibility ceases

Longing for a day as reverent as night

Well said, your poem serves to highlight the importance of taking time to reflect and rejuvenate, suggesting that night offers a necessary break from the responsibilities and expectations of the day. You capture the universal longing for peace and restoration that many individuals seek in their lives.

A wonderful write Katie this poem conveys the peaceful feelings of night. Wondering if the form of the poem was the moon or setting sun. A poem that I feelt deeply

Katie, this feels so peaceful… the way you let night become a refuge is beautiful. You let the quiet breathe and it settles into the reader. Gorgeous work. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
