Dead Or Living? - OT/NT Series 13

Tune: Dominus Regit Me

('The King of love my Shepherd is')

Matthew 22 v.29-32

********

Jesus said to some, You do err

For in this you do not share

Not knowing the scripture, nor power

Of God, which is strong each hour

For in the resurrection they

Not marry, nor in those days

Are engaged, but are as angels

Of God in heaven, know well

But as concerning, it is said

Resurrection of the dead

Have you not read what was spoken

Of old to you, sons of men?

Saying*, I am the God, the same

Of Abraham, that my name

And the God of Isaac, and true

The God of Jacob I am too

For God is not the God of dead

But He is our living Head

Hope of the resurrection bright

And of eternal, endless light

-----

* Exodus 3 v. 6 and v.15.

Excellent hymn poem, Orchi! I prefer dead of course...beats living to hear endless glugging and gurgling around that awfu-spinachy laugh. Hehee! 🀭
