Birds

sorenbarrett

Seen only as flesh, man's strength to refresh, plumed fields to thresh, we harvest their creche
Brain size of a pea but smart as we, with murderous decree we butchered the avarie
Long before man was around no longer bound to the ground with feathers the sky they found
For heaven we search while they sit in lofty perch of pine or birch while we in a ground bound church

What a beautiful poem about birds written in such poetic and whimsical way!! Truly truly enjoyed it!!

Thank you Neilton your words cheer my day. I awake to birds in chorus singing each day and feel a bit of gratitude for that but more so have been impressed with their intelligence that we have sadly underestimated. Crows show intelligence that until recently we only thought human and they possess emotions of empathy that we never knew they were capable of. Only the other day one visited me in my shower and perched on my towel. It only moved when I went to take it but did not go far sitting in my open window singing for me. The seem to know when there is no harmful intent. I appreciate your review and most kind words

Indeed, birds are remarkably intelligent and often underestimated creatures. I had the pleasure of owning an Amazon Yellow Nape parrot for nearly 40 years, until one day, a thief stole him from my yard while I was cleaning his 8' cage in the house cage. My bird was exceptionally intelligent, capable of singing, requesting food, talking, and mimicking various sounds. To me, birds are the most loyal and faithful companions globally. I deeply miss my bird, Coco, whom I raised from birth and cared for by hand for the first three weeks of his life. He matured into a stunning bird. Unfortunately, I'm accustomed to people taking things from me, and it pains me to have lost him. Someone came and stole him in his traveling cage.

Thank you for your read and comment and I am sorry for your loss my friend. I have been ignorant myself of their intelligence. Magnificent creatures.

My friend, this is a striking metaphor…the birds already inhabiting the sky we claim to seek, while we remain earthbound, harvesting and justifying. You let the image speak without preaching. Powerful work, Soren. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
