Tune: Hanover
('O worship the King')
Psalm 98
********
O sing unto the Lord a new song free
For he has done marvellous things, here see
His right hand* and His holy arm* they have won (*symbols of power)
The victory, His strength compares unto none
The Lord has made known His great salvation
His righteousness He showed to each nation
He has remembered His truth and His mercy
Towards His people, loving, kind, faithful He
And all the ends of the earth they have see
The salvation of our God it has been
Shown to all nations, come and make a joyful
Noise to the Lord, all the earth, now praise Him all
Make a loud noise and break forth into song
Rejoice and sing praise through all your life long
Sing to the Lord with instruments and with voice
Let sounds of songs be heard, He made you His choice
And let nature join too, let the sea roar
The whole world and they that dwell there for sure
Let rivers clap their hands, let hills rejoice, for
The Lord comes to judge righteously evermore

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 10.10.11.11. My skill does not seem to stretch to rhyming mid-lines as well as end-lines, as some hymns with longer lines do. I could have perhaps broken it down into 5.5.5.5.6.5.6.5. lines as in the hymn in the clip, which is based on Psalm 104.

It seems that God is a music lover and likes to party. A good read Orchi. A joyous hymn and nicely done, it has a bit of different flavor from the style of your usual ones. Liked it
Thank you S. Yes, a break from the OT/NT series, which may be ending soon. The words\' break forth into song' (stanza 4, line 1) are added as extra words in my Bible margin, by way of explanation. I\'ve called it \'stanza\' so as not to confuse it with Bible \'verse\'. Pity it\'s ME that\'s gonna break into song, or screeching! lol.
Must you sing it 20 times, they ask me? heehee.
You are most welcome Orchi I long ago found the solution to my singing, I sing with a pipe organ large enough to drown out my voice
Lol.
Orchi, this hymn carries real weight. Itβs confident, grounded, and joy-forward without slipping into sentimentality. This praise is earned, and the seriousness holds even when you let Popeye glug and Olβ Tom knit Scooby a tube sock on the side. That balance works really works! π€£πΉπ€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬
Thank you T. glug!
I genuinely enjoy this; it brings back memories of my time in catholic school.
Thank you F.
I love the image of the rivers and hills themselves rejoicing. Beautiful poem
Thank you M. A symbolic picture in part - not seen any trees with hands clapping. Have you?! lol.
Haha I have not
Good write, O; stretching and breaking down, and such π·πππ»
Thank you A.
