Myopic science

sorenbarrett

For four hundred thousand years man had fears dealt with by spears
Only in the last couple of centuries, fought with chemical technologies
Discovery of germs and parasitic worms
Added chemicals to water, the bacteria to slaughter
Poisons for the bugs, for illness drugs
Our immunity, lost with scientific impunity
On one thing to focus science's hocus-pocus
With its constricture it can't see the bigger picture

Good write SB. Ahh, another item to add to my recipe book for when I prepare KP's meals - parasitic worms. She'll like those! lol.

Is she a worm too? She worms her way in to get botox money from me. lol.

Didn't mean it that way old man just thought that while she was eating them they would be eating her too from the inside out. You will need some medical help there.

Oops! Sounds like one of the King Herods (there were more than one of that name). That's how he ended up.

Just this week I was again pondering the idea of the Frankensteinic bent in all of humanity. 🕊️🙏🏻

Thank you Cryptic for the review. Yes indeed it does seem that are own arrogance is our weakest spot our Achilles heel.

Well written, your poem critiques the narrow focus of scientific advancement, suggesting that while technology has made significant strides in combating illness and improving human life, it has also led to a loss of broader understanding and perhaps a disconnect from natural immunity and holistic health. The poem implies that a singular focus on chemical solutions can overlook the complexities and interdependencies of health and the environment.

Thank you Friendship you are spot on. Science is not the only way or at times not the best way to look at things.

Truth. This reminds me of a poem I wrote earlier this year, "And They Call It Science". Very thought-provoking. my friend. What they call "science" is very constricted indeed and rarely leads to answers that don't change with the wind direction. And that is the nature of science, no? We only know what we think we know until we realize we don't know it at all. But these days science seems to know everything and gets so much wrong. Arrogance. And that is getting even worse these days. 😬 Well done! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
