Annunciation Awakening

Tune: Forest Green

('O little town of Bethlehem')

Luke 1 v.26-33

*******

The angel Gabriel was sent

From God, to city went

In Galilee, to Nazareth

And a message he saith

To a virgin betrothed to he

Whose name Joseph it be

Of the house of David, and see

Virgin's name Mary be

The angel said to her, All hail

Rejoice, I message tell

To you who are highly favoured

Of this be you assured

The Lord is with you, blessed are you

Among women, 'tis true

When she saw him she was troubled

By this greeting thus called

The angel said, Fear not, Mary

You have found favour, see

With God, and behold, for you shall

Conceive in womb, know well

And you shall sure bring forth a son

His name JESUS the one

He shall be great, eternal blessed

The Son of the Highest

And the Lord God shall to Him give

Throne, though He humbly live

The throne of His father* David (*ancestor)

Revealed to Him, not hid

And He shall reign o'er Israel

His kingdom shall not fail

Shall reign for ever, no ending

This Announcing we sing

One of the most beautiful stories of this time of year so nicely told in this hymn. Those syllables can be troublesome. Good one Orchi

Thank you SB. I sneaked in an extra syllable in each verse - ooh!

Shush don't tell anyone and no one will notice. You are most welcome Orchi

Erm, I don\'t think it\'s heretical! heehee. Not necessarily meaning heretical in the religious sense, but in a general sense.
Doh! But I told them where the extra syllables are.

It is the magician revealing his trick

There's some tunes called 'irregular' metre or format. Syllables all over the place. 'O come all ye faithful' can be a tricky one to sing. The pesky syllables being irregular, all over the place! lol.

Great hymn-poem, Orchi. Your series is rockin', a jokes aside, my friend.

Thank you T. The OT/NT series seems to have ended now. P won't have sprouts for Christmas. He will have spinach instead of course. He has it 364 days a year. What does he have on the other day, or can't we answer that?! lol.

Good one Orchi but why is Jesus only mentioned in the bible and in no other history book.
