Dark passion

sorenbarrett

I've made love to life's dark shadow, grown comfortable in her arms
I've kissed her lips and ran my hands over her hips, breast and charms
A siren's dance a macabra romance, seduced as a necrophile slave
She beckons my age and mortal cage, to bed with her in the grave
Dry bones covered with stones, form a blanket of rock for my bed
Her dark womb a traveling tomb, silent brothel of the dead
In naked orgy wild, a virgin defiled, rolled in a brief orgasm of life
Each breath, between being or death, balanced on the edge of a knife

This is a haunting embrace of mortality, where desire and decay become one. Your words dance on the knife's edge between ecstasy and oblivion. Profoundly dark and captivating.

Your poem masterfully captures the profound dance between life and death, revealing a captivating bond with mortality that inspires and fascinates. It presents death as a mystical companion, highlighting a deep yet complex connection that sparks both wonder and reverence. This dynamic seems to orbit around the themes of love, passion, and the transience of life. The intriguing charm of the unknown and the inevitable destiny of mortality are woven together, portraying death not as something to be dreaded but as something to be welcomed and understood.

Life begins in a kind of brightness, but time inevitably scours that early clarity. All the while, the earth waits with its steady, unarguable finality. Set against that stillness, our existence becomes a brief flare that is intense, vivid, and astonishing precisely because it burns for so little time. In that contrast between our momentary blaze and the long quiet that follows, human experience finds its sharpness and its strange beauty.

Soren, this is a fearless meditation on desire entangled with death. You refuse metaphor as a shield and let the imagery do its unsettling work. The result is visceral, uncomfortable, and honest in a way that lingers long after the last line. Strong, strong work. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

                    • sorenbarrett

Thank you Tristan from someone that appreciates darkness as yourself your words are most valued.

Making "love" to the "dark shadow" of "Life" "each breath" "between being and death". Such a dark concept, I wasn't sure if it was real. I question the choice but accept it as a way to continue existence. A dark presentation of a chosen existence filled with sexual innuendo and suspense. I loved the woven in rhymes. - Phil A.

                      • sorenbarrett

Thank you so much Phil for the read and comment it is most appreciated. I see the sexual inuendo as a metaphor for how all life comes to be and the strongest drive next to self preservation. As men it is with death that this drive dies as well.

Dark, raw, and unflinching — this pulls you straight into the shadowed edges of experience. The imagery is haunting, yet strangely intimate. Powerful work.
