Amid The Echo of Doves

Neville

Amid The Echo of Doves

Listen

to the echo

of doves

calling

from high

rafters

in these

old derelict

buildings

where I now

reside ..

Their

haunting

song,

a gentle

hymn ..

Bouncing

loud

off the walls

below

both hollow

but yet

still proud ..

It feels

like a trick

of time

just passing

me by ..

Yes, listen

by all means,

but don’t

you dare feel

obliged to

linger

anywhere

here all

on your own ..

With just

the ghost of

me by your side ..

Have a great time in Miami, the poet invites the reader to listen to the echoes of the doves, suggesting a connection to the past, while simultaneously cautioning against lingering in a space filled with nostalgia. The subject matter revolves around the experience of hearing these echoes in old, abandoned buildings, reflecting on what they represent: memories, lost time, and the bittersweet nature of remembrance.

          You're so welcome

Doves symbol of peace but I want to stay free of their droppings so I won't stand long underneath. Most interesting in that I have doves roost in the outer part of the rafters of my bedroom and occasionally one will come in through a hole and leave its memories behind. I hear them each morning as they awaken. A lovely poem Neville that gives one pause to think. Was it not Prince that released the song When Doves Cry? If you get close to Laguna Santa Catarina Brazil let me know I'd meet you for a drink

Reading this feels like walking through memory rather than space. The warning not to linger carries care and sorrow together, and that combination feels deeply human. Well done, Neville!πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦β€β¬›

Atmosphere there in spades; the cooing is enough, without the added scenery. Best get off to Miami and beyond asap. Bon Voyage, Neville.
