Head stuck in a book,
Nothing new there then.
But then I read a passage,
And read it three times,
As it caused me to wonder.
Somebody had done wrong,
They had taken revenge.
By taking revenge,
Does it make you think more
About the original hurt?
Do those thoughts
Encroach on your life,
Taking it over,
So that you think of nothing,
But that hurt?
And is that why,
Those who are prepared to forgive,
Are much more likely,
To find peace of mind?

Good write Gold. Some may let it 'wash over them' in handling hurt, or say 'it's nothing', whether they mean it genuinely or not. It happens, sooner or later, that unforgiveness will not bring us peace of mind, I say.
Thank you Orchi, your words are so true.

This one is a fave Andy for the thought itself. So many shortchange themselves by refusing to forgive. Making excuses, saying that the other person is not sorry and never asked to be forgiven. They in their stubbornness only harm themselves. A lovely write with which I totally agree.
Thank you for your kind and understanding words soren.

Always my pleasure Andy
Peace and forgiveness do go hand in hand it would seem ๐๏ธ๐๐ป
The certainly do Rik, thank you.

Most welcome, Andy ๐๏ธ๐๐ป
I think for the majority, it depends but an interesting question & provisional tentative formulation .. Neville ๐๐
Thank you Neville.

Sorry to be a voice of dissent here Andy, but I find that to square the ledger is the best way to achieve peace of mind. Sometimes that process is best served cold, though in my opinion not often. Watson and Skinner had some insights worth considering.
Totally understand Dave, there are many ways to find peace of mind, the way I do it sometimes is to put the problem in a box in my mind and lock it there. That works for me.

Revenge eats the soul raw. Forgiveness isnโt weaknessโitโs the only way to stop the rot.
Very true Thomas, thank you.

i agree with you here - if you can find in yourself to forgive, [which, in some circumstances is extremely difficult when actions don't match words] peace of mind will follow -
Thank you for your kind words Nafisa.
