Far right thuggery is the way it begins,
But from whence does this activism come?
Late capitalism with all its sins;
‘Democracy’ - tissue thin could wipe a bum.
…
When increasing concentration of wealth
Means inequality, lives unfulfilled,
Subsequent loss of societal health;
That love you write of, compassion, all killed.
…
By the way, immigration set to increase
Exponentially; climate change the key -
Prompting mass migration, little chance of peace;
Enforced movement won't let people be.

Dave, I appreciate how you follow the thread backward. You’re not disputing the warning, obviously, you’re asking where it comes from and what feeds it. The way you tie wealth concentration, hollowed-out democracy, and climate-driven displacement together feels grounded and necessary. This adds much depth to the conversation, my friend. Well done. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Thanks Tristan. Couldn't ask for a fairer summary and endorsement. Not really enough just to observe and then put it down to evil people (however likely it is that they exist)The question 'Why?' can never be asked too often, no matter how irritated this can make some folks.
I could not agree more! Y should be everyone's middle initial...or something like that. It does not get asked enough! You are most welcome, Dave!
Dave I sense a little discontent in this poem, the same discontent that I have had over the last thirty of more years and has now grown into a general dislike of any political system, party or philosophy. I have come to believe inherent greed, violence and dishonesty in man makes a fair system impossible. Just call me jaded. A good write
Yes Soren - I'd call you jaded, no problem. Not in 'man' - 'greed, violence and dishonesty' in some perhaps, or even if you will, many but by no means all. Political systems, parties or philosophies are entities over which individuals have little or no control. I can identify the problems, but have no solutions unless as many people as possible can identify too, But your nihilism does not help.
Sorry Dave I respect people that try to better society and systems and will acknowledge that some are better in ways than others it is just that I have seen so many grievous atrocities committed by all that I am aware of.
I knew this was going to be a good one as soon as I saw the title... well done! The underlying cause is often ignored so real solutions are not ever created.
Thanks NG. Spot on. Wailing and gnashing of teeth, labeling far right extremists as evil (probably true - you wouldn't invite one home for tea would you?!) does nothing to take account of the conditions which allow them to grow. Additionally, so called moral upright citizens may well be contributing to those conditions by their easy acceptance of the status quo.
Take care.
It's that easy acceptance of "it is what it is" that gets me! You don't see the comfortable protesting for change, and the goal of anyone in power seems to be to keep the citizens comfortable. It's my thought on why social media, television, and all sorts of other distractions are so easily available.
YES - I\'m not on social media, but I have two choices for myself: either sit there shouting at the telly in my little flat, or turn it off. This I do more often than not, but it seems the kind of propaganda provided by the media must work for a significant portion of the population - either as persuasion or justification of their position.
Look after yourself.
Fine words Dave, it certainly seems to be going this way in our world.
Andy
Yes Andy, it does.
Good write D. I don't know a lot about fascism, so - since when have I contributed anything sensible about it?! lol.
If you didn't have an inexhaustible supply of 'Get out of jail free' cards, I'd personally see you got life........ L...O.... L...
A quiz for you: Since when was [insert name of a so-called comedian of your choice] funny?
Dunno - you try hard....but I don't want to irretrievably discourage you....
Aww - why 99% of people insert my name there? lol.
A wee bit of self reflection may resolve this issue. But please take 'wee' seriously - too much could be traumatic.
I saw me reflection in a mirror. Erm, have I quite got the hang of this?! lol.
You will eventually and given your alleged longevity, you'll be here long after I'm gone.....
I'm not human. How come they let me in on the 'verify'?! lol.
Definitely a faulty system. Needs immediate rectification.
I suppose the question should be. When did the British people decide they’d had enough of mass immigration. The Tories did nothing, and don't even mention the idiot labour leader. So this leads people to the far right, not just in Britain, but throughout Europe. People maybe see the age of migrants coming across, all of fighting age. Are they Trojan horse soldiers waiting for the call, who knows. One thing is for sure, the whole of Britain is on the same page, the tories know it, and so do labour. I actually think the Brits have lost patience with the mainstream parties, and if an election was called tomorrow they would be gone.
I don't live in Britain, and each country has different problems here, but I do to some extent empathize. However how do you think a change of government would solve the problem? It isn't going away whatever government is in power. It is long standing and existed prior to the current government as you have pointed out and is, as I've already argued, only set to get worse.
Yes it's only going to get worse, no doubt about it.
So - what is to be done?
Fifty thousand crossed the English Channel in boats. Now housed in hotels, causing chaos. Britain needs to get out of the ECHR, and start deportations immediately.
I don't pretend to have the answers for the UK, but perhaps they must be delt with at source, otherwise they will just return.
