Reckless Abandonment

Flashing lights are upon me,

like broken memories.

The trees move like water--

where is my broken innocence?

The nakedness of fear is beyond me;

I am tied to my trauma for life.

Breathe heavily into my spirit,

and my spirit shall dance.

Wholeheartedly, the whispers begin,

and the floods break loose.

You grab me--

but it is not innocent.

For the sun has drowned in the sea.

As I look into your eyes,

I see a man wrestling with his conscience,

and I wonder if you genuinely love me

or if I am only an emotional punching bag.

Either way, I am scared.

You are a man of mystery--

so profound in your emotions,

while mine remain raw.

We are both staring into the abyss.

Break me, and I shall break you;

we shall break each other in the abyss.

Blood scatters like diamonds

across the deep blue sea.

And I am in heaven now--

yet where are you?

This broken innocence I possess

can only take me so far,

and you are nowhere to be found.

All I see are stars in the dark.

Forever my light shall shine;

I will remember you in the night sky,

for I feel your restless contempt.
