Tune: Holton Holgate
('Firmly I believe and truly')
Psalm 67
*******
God be merciful unto us
Bless us, turn His face to us
That his way may be known upon
Earth, inhabitants each one
And His saving health among all
Nations, let them on Him call
Shine upon us, O God, and let
People bring you praises yet*
Let the nations be glad and sing
For joy, for He in each thing
Shall judge the people righteously
And govern nations justly
Shine upon us. O God, and let
People bring you praises yet*
Then shall the earth yield her increase
And our God shall bless, not cease
God shall bless us, and all the ends
Of the earth shall see His trends
And shall fear Him awesome, holy
Our provider He e'er be
------
* These lines are repeated intentionally, as the Psalm has
a refrain, placed twice within the Psalm.

Good one Orchi Psalms are peaceful to read and joyous to sing here it seems that man is doing what he does best asking for blessings again and why would he ask God to turn his face to us when God told man that no one could look upon his face. Well done my friend
Thank you SB.
Always my pleasure my friend
Lovely hymn- poem... such an antidote to many secular themed writings which are often bereft of the beautiful language, allegories and symbols religion can offer. I guess, not only Shakespeare, but Dylan Thomas & Leonard Cohen knew this to be true.
Thank you D. Erm, I'm not keen on some modern hymns or 'choruses', with sundry 'Oh yeah!' 'Whoopee', or other rather 'common' expressions. Not that I'm snobbish or extra-formal. lol.
Me neither....the old hymns are best, probably because they still echo throughout the ages. As for poetry, I do know that Leonard Cohen viewed religious language as an essential, universal vocabulary for expressing deep human experiences like love, brokenness, and the search for meaning. He argued that modern society had wrongly discarded this language, leaving people without the words to address fundamental predicaments.
Praise indeed is always a productive thing. 🕊️🙏🏻
Thank you A.
Beautiful Orchi! I love Psalm 67 and you render it not only faithfully but beautifully!
Especially the part that says, glug glug gluggy glug glug gl......ug. Right there in verse 4b.
Looking back, it seems a certain P may have been glugging over me. My apologies! 🤣
Thank you T. Oh, I never spotted the inclusion of a glug there! lol.
LOL! Whew! 😅
You're welcome!
A psalm for a miserable Thursday.
Feeling better already.
Thank you P. I\'m a gloom merchant. lol. Cheer up there, it could be a miserable Friday tomorrow! heehee. I\'m a great help - not!!
Good one Orchi.
