Sweet smoke drifting out open windows over heads of oblivious diners
Too loud the talk in a noisy cafe not able to hear whispers of future diviners
I've eaten the best food but now only the taste of memory remains
Chewed the softest meals of love, where now sits the shadow of pains
Discarded waste on a plate in front of me
Too full to hold another bite of felicity

Clever write Soren....again I really like the way you utilise metaphorical language.
Thank you so much Dominic for the read and kind words of support they mean a lot
Felicity feels like the distant memory we would all like to eat with.
I suppose once again, time changes the scene, and not always in a good way.
The restaurant now becomes happiness for others as you walk past reflecting.
Thank you Paul for your read and comment yes I certainly can see that view. Your words are most appreciated
Nothing like a fine meal. Nicely done.

Good write SB.
Thank you Orchi don't show it to KP she will want something to eat.
Soren, this speaks to that moment when love and pleasure become memory instead of presence. I recognize that strange ache of having had enoughโฆand too much. Thoughtful piece. ๐น๐ค๐๐ฏ๏ธ๐ฆโโฌ
Thank you Tristan you got it as I knew that you would. I appreciate your continued support my friend
You are most welcome, Soren! Always.
We can be so filled with so many things (not necessarily food stuff) that it ruins our appetite ๐๐ป๐๏ธ

Most welcome, Soren ๐๏ธ๐๐ป
Soren your imagery has made me hungry! You also perfectly conveyed how the sweet things in life sometimes go too fast but they always leave an impact. Another amazing poem.

Only the taste of memory remains... This is the most poetic metaphor I've read I think. Pain shouldn't be beautiful, but you wrote it that way.
Thank you so very much for your most generous words of encouragement they are most valued
My honest pleasure
a tender and haunting write..
Thanks so much for your review and kind words of support they are most appreciated
past richness and present emptiness.. in the cafe of metaphors exploring joy and love,,,memories just have aftertaste now.
Thank you Aman for your read and words of encouragement they are most important to me
Felicity:
1 intense happiness: domestic felicity.
2 the ability to find appropriate expression for one's thoughts: speech that pleased by its accuracy, felicity, and fluency.
โข a particularly effective feature of a work of literature or art: the King James version, thanks to its felicities of language, ruled supreme.
Writing poems demonstrates that you are not "too full" for more felicity. Keep feeling keep going.
