It's The Oldies Fault Again.

Goldfinch60

So it’s our fault again!

Us Oldies!

Still living in the house

That we bought many years ago,

They say it is too big for us

At our time of life,

We need to move,

Move to something smaller.

So that the youngsters can move on.

They cannot afford to buy any more

As the people with the money

Build houses out of the price range

Of most people.

They sit there

In their castles in the air

Just fuelling their greed

From the hard times they are creating,

For those trying to stay alive.

    Good write Gold.

    Feel persecuted again, Andy?
Would you not concede that large portions of the young are finding home ownership unaffordable, and further are being exploited by high rental costs?
    Why?

    • Goldfinch60

I agree Dave but those in power who can do something about it do not do anything about it, they just want to make money for themselves and blow the rest.

Right Andy – however, the title, at least half of your pin and your commentary would imply that you were in immediate prospect of loosing your house. Now you should know that the proposition you highlight in your silly rant is only one of many arguments (and one of the more insignificant ones), presented to obfuscate the general discussion re the current ‘housing crisis’.
You should know that, or become acquainted with, the truth that the ‘housing crisis’ is manufactured in order to keep property owners in their properties with rising values, allow ‘landlords’ to charge high rents, and to put it at the most simple, let the rich get richer,
Now if you want some comfort after this, then you can retreat to the company of the two fannelers immediately below who will greet you with open arms and allow all three of you to wallow in masses of sympathetic BS.

Such mixed feelings with this poem Andy. Torn between what I was able to do and my children. Bought my first house when 35 had to sell it. Bought another when 42 paid for it after 30 years of payments. Along the way bought four others some to sell, some to rent and maybe pass on to kids. But then my wife seemed to be a real-estate genius self taught. Good write Andy it does seem that one is chasing the wind with the real-estate market

I have been lucky in my life soren, I have managed to stay in the houses I bought and the day that I paid off my mortgage was one of the happiest days of my life. But as I am on oldie now many believe I should not still be in my house as others would prosper from it, well I am not moving. Thanks for you fine comment.

You are most welcome my friend

Andy, this makes me feel sad for you, I get that we need to help our younger generations, but leaving the home you have so many memories and have loved for so long, must be a true dilemma, life is hard for all. In Italy there is a different way, grandparents help with the children so parents can go earn the bucks, they are also incredibly generous however they don't sacrifice things they have worked for for themselves. My father didn't ever give me a keepsake of my mother when she died, nor a good wish on my wedding day, but I know you would give anything to yours. 🌹

Thank you for your understanding words Teddy, I am fine and the family are all OK.
