Wandering light, firefly on the breeze of the night
The glow of your spark, floating embers in the dark
A luminescent blink, a green eyed wink
Tiny lanterns soar and sink, raising bubbles in night's drink
Vagabonds of the sky, iridescently you fly
Near stars on a summer eve, over rocks and grass you weave
Gentle memories fade away, at the dawning of a new day

A fine firefly write SB.
Thanks Orchi it is appreciated
Beautiful tale of the life of a firefly. It brings more joy than once imagined in your poem.
Love it. A fave.
Thank you so much Katie for your kind review of this piece your graciousness is most appreciated
Watching fireflies must be an impressive sight. The poet captures the sight and sets it in poetry. It's a sight made of dreams. It symbolises the transience of life, since we know the time is limited. Dawn will make the sight vanish.
Thank you so much Soman for your review and read of this piece your words are most valuable to me
Beautiful imagery evident here as ever Soren....right up my street, so to speak!
Thank you Dominic for the read and most kind words of support. I deeply appreciate your continued following and thank you for it most humbly
This shimmers with quiet wonder. I love how the fireflies become tiny guides through memory and night—their movement delicate, almost musical. There’s a gentle nostalgia here that lingers after the last line, like dew on grass at dawn.
Thomas your continued support is invaluable and most cherished. Thank you so much for the read and comment it means a lot
Luminescent blinks, aren't we all? A fantabulous poem and your use of metaphor is second to none, as always. I can't say it enough...this is so good it gets a portmanteau: fantabulous. Well done! ⚡️🪰🌹🖤🙏🕯️
Thank you Tristan for the read and too kind remarks. Your generosity overwhelms me my friend. You are most appreciated
You are most welcome, Soren.
The journey of the firefly, maybe evoking memories of yourself.
Nature at work never ceases to amaze, and to think the show is free.
What more can you ask for.
Thanks so much Paul for the review and kind words of understanding. I have always been fascinated with their luminescence .
What an amazing poem Soren! Fireflies really are such amazing creatures. Back in the Midwest we used to catch them in jars and use them as a lantern. We only had them there for a while or so and then we would watch as the lights would float away. Great imagery and you captured a firefly perfectly.
Thank you so much Allie for your kind words of support they are most appreciated. Yes I love to watch them
You are very welcome
I got the feeling this firefly is actually metaphor for someone you love, how incredibly beautiful and may I say, how soothing this was to read. 🌹
Thank you Teddy for your read. Yes that could well apply but it is the actual sitting on the porch on a summer eve and watching these small lights float over acres of grass that captures the heart and makes one feel romantic.
Your poem explores the ephemeral beauty and magic of fireflies as they navigate through the night. It captures the essence of fleeting moments and the gentle transition from night to day, evoking a sense of nostalgia and wonder. Nicely written, Soren
Thank you so much for the review of this poem and your kind and encouraging remarks they are deeply valued
Wonderful words soren, it must be wonderful to see fireflies, I have never seen them.
