My ol’ hometown,
Dear Sandusky.
On the South Shore
of Lake Erie.
Saint Mary’s Church
a few doors from
from my ol’ house.
A short walk to
gorgeous gardens
around the big clock.
Boy & the Boot
standing timelessly.
Memories of neighbors
walking about,
without fear of each other,
without fear of the world.
Walking with my mother
lovingly downtown.
Past
J.C. Penny’s,
Macy’s,
Woolworth’s
and Gray Drugs
for a candy bar.
A round trip ride
on the ferry to Cedar Point.
My Mom and I
watching the seagulls fly.
That’s where
my dreams lie.

Fond memories in this poem about a place and relationship with mother. Nicely pictured in images it calls out with nostalgia. Well done James
A well written comment. Thank you
You are most welcome
Good write JM. You got Woolworths still?
Thanks G.P.D. Woolworths went out of business unfortunately in 1997.
