Stealing Greenland

Matthew R. Callies

Stealing Greenland, a tale of might,
Trump's desire, a polar fight.
He wants the ice, the land, the sea,
Greenland's riches, for you and me.

With tariffs threatened, he'd take the prize,
Denmark and allies, in surprise.
"Give us Greenland," he did say,
"Or face the tariffs, come what may"
.
But Greenland's people, they won't be swayed,
Their self-determination, not for trade.
NATO allies unite, in firm stance,
No sale, no force, no chance
.
Trump backs down, with words so sweet,
"A deal's in sight," his tweet to meet.
No force, no tariffs, a newfound peace,
Greenland's future, still uncertain, release
.
The Arctic's treasures, a strategic play,
But at what cost, this icy sway?
As nations watch, with bated breath,
The fate of Greenland, still a work in death.
