box of sea shells

Jon Nakapalau

in my garage

wrapped in newspaper
dated june 9 1972

the last time i think
i swam in the sea

my mother calling
with her command voice of love

get back here
right now

now i remember that day coming home
and wrapping them up

the currency of
a little boy

paid to memory.

We tend to keep what ever we are not used to and a trip to the beach provides many opportunities. Nicely written

I too have a box of sea shells in my garage Jon, and they too bring back fine memories.
