Beyond All Ladders

 

A Martian arrived,
A new face, lost and alone,
Stepped into the store of life
In a heavy silence,
As if even time had paused.

He said:
“I want a ladder.”

The shopkeeper asked:
“What kind of ladder?”

“Two-way, sliding, folding, rope,
Attic, pool, library…”

The Martian shook his head:
“No, I want another one.”

The shopkeeper fell silent,
His gaze full of questions.

“Social, economic, professional, political,
Academic, success, promotion…”

The Martian sighed,
Eyes fixed on the sky:
“Ah, the ladder of humanity!”

The shopkeeper said softly:
“That ladder we do not have;
Everyone must build it themselves,
In silence and effort.”

 

فراتر از همه نردبان‌ها

 

،مریخی آمد
،چهره‌ای نو، گم‌کرده و تنها
قدم در فروشگاه زندگی گذاشت
،در سکوتی سنگین
.چنان‌که زمان هم مکث کرده بود

:گفت
".یک نردبان می‌خواهم"
:فروشنده پرسید
"چه نردبانی؟"

،دوطرفه، کشویی، تاشو، طنابی"
"... زیرشیروانی، استخر، کتابخانه‌ای"

:مریخی سر تکان داد
".نه، نوع دیگری می‌خواهم"
،فروشنده سکوت کرد
.نگاهش پر از پرسش شد

،اجتماعی، اقتصادی، شغلی، سیاسی"
"... دانشگاهی، موفقیت، ارتقا

،مریخی آهی کشید
:چشم دوخت به آسمان
"!آهان، نردبان انسانیت"

:فروشنده آرام گفت
،آن نردبان را ما نداریم"
،هر کس باید خود بسازد
".در سکوت و تلاش
