I'm Safest When I'm Sleeping

AuburnScribbler

Kingdom of the waking world

gifts throne to all dilemma,

where every monumental reign

is made of golden terror,

confusion blends the noises,

the thunder of such leaping,

that is why; mistaken friend

I’m safest when I’m sleeping.

As when I make the headlines

empty judgement blares,

ensuing from the zombies,

rewriting all the cares,

with plastic minds; and metal hearts;

ignoring the soul seeping,

that is why, misguided friend

I’m safest when I’m sleeping.

Sullied scripts; and rotten reels,

will cut up all my dreams,

no live acts; upon broadcast,

poster child deems,

as lexicon is stunted,

by their timid bleeping,

that is why, my fucked up friend

I’m safest when I’m sleeping.

Drinking in a pub with ghosts

that my blade has made,

would create some peace and quiet

ending all the shade,

but living with myself and you,

is something not worth keeping,

that is why, my absent friend

I’m safest when I’m sleeping!

  • Comment from author about the poem: If humanity, as a cosmic commodity, had an advertising campaign, its slogan would read something like this: "Be too much!" Every single piece of overcomplication, divisiveness and dissatisfaction, is a result of human decision, which has then been implemented into an action, of which for the last two thousand years (and counting), there has been by too much of, and unnecessarily so. Everybody has got to be doing something, and mostly without any thought whatsoever, which gets to me think, that sometimes the only decent thing that our species can do, is nothing. With that said, I give you this poem entitled: "I'm Safest When I'm Sleeping", which gives you the contrast of woeful mindless activity against the simple act of "having a nap." I hope that you enjoy this poem, and as always, please do stay safe in the madness everyone.

It is far safer when everyone is sleeping. The species that we think is superior (judged by ourselves) has been here such a brief time and the real judge nature is thinking what to tell us about her decision. Over confident we raise our hands in victory but the judgement is not in. A great write that well could be a song

Thanks for the read and as always, for your wonderfully worded commentary, it is very much appreciated.

I like what you said about nature trying to tell us her judgement. Seeing as nature does not have words, it most likely speaks in floods, volcanic eruptions or earthquakes. The salacious people of Pompeii being blanketed by the lava and ash of Mount Vesuvius comes to mind to me clearly when talking about this matter.

I cannot imagine that our species can get any worse in its conduct, but if there is more room for proud error, then the judgement from nature, could be the spring clean we need, to better our act!

Yeah, I did try to put a melody with the words, like a sea shanty, and it kind of works, so perhaps when I recite this, I might regard it more of a song, of which, I hope, catches on.

Thanks again, and I hope that all is well.

You are most welcome I have long felt that nature takes care of herself maybe a cleansing would be good in that it seems that the problem of man is overpopulation placing too much demand on limited resources. Nature takes care of other animal and plant overpopulations why not ours.

Wonderful words Ben, but being safest when sleeping can bring dreams of anxiety to the mind so I believe the finest thing about sleeping is waking the next day as I have this morning.

Thanks for the read and for your very kind words Andy, they are very much appreciated.

I know that there can be dreams of anxiety, when sleeping, but when people are awake, there is no guarantee of a good action, in fact with what has been accepted as the norm of late, most or all actions are criminal. Like you, I do hope for a better morning to wake up to, but with the current norm, that is so foolishly allowed to prolong its overcomplicated cruelty, I truly am safest when I am sleeping.

Thanks again, again, we really do need to improve, I hope that all is well.
