Tune: Webb
('Stand up, stand up for Jesus')
Psalm 124
*********
If the Lord not on our side
If He not with us bide
Now may we say, if He not
On our side, poor our lot
When enemies did arise
Against us, no denies
They would have quickly swallowed
Us up, a dark forbode
Their wrath against us would be
Kindled, and we would, see
Be as by waters o'erwhelmed
Swept away and covered
The stream would go o'er our soul
We would know sorrows toll
Proud waters seek to us drown
Beneath enemy's frown
Blessed be the Lord, who has not
His mercy, grace forgot
Has not given us a prey
Unto our enemy
Our souls is escaped as bird
Out of snare where allured
Were we, but trap is broken
We fly free from it then
Our help is in the name sure
Of the Lord evermore
He who made heaven and earth
We praise, give Him His worth
For He redeems sets us free
No longer bound we be
By sin, but His salvation
Reaches to each nation
