Getting Older

Akshadha_Joshi1310

Sixteen feels like an unfamiliar territory

Sixteen feels like it's not meant for me,

Sixteen feels like I'm out of my comfort zone,

Sixteen feels like I'm in a strange place all alone.

I still haven't come to terms with it,

In my mind I let it sit,

I believe it's going to take a long time,

For me to believe that the past is no longer mine.

Someone asked my age the other day,

And I almost said fifteen,

I had to stop myself halfway,

I believe im still lingering in between.

I know I'm still young,

I still have time left,

But , oh god , getting older stung,

This was not something I did expect.

Getting older can be a pain, but you’ll grow into your skin. You’ll come to appreciate your birthdays although they are daunting and scary. I wish you the best, and wonderful poem.
