And the wind

Carlos Alberto BUSTILLOS

AND THE WIND.

The air carried the dreams away,

I was never able to see your name written.

The syllables of love never echoed,

my heart dreamed of love,

but it never came.

That love, that love to care for,

that long‑awaited love never came.

The days stopped, the years, the decades,

and I was left so alone that my heart has died,

and even though it keeps beating,

it never beat for anyone,

but what does it matter,

if my heart never learned to love.

Despite everything,

the wind keeps blowing,

even if I can’t hear my own heartbeat,

there it is,

and I already know I will not hear your name.

And sometimes I look out at the world,

and I cry watching love,

that love forbidden

to my heart.

Y EL VIENTO.

El aire se llevó los sueños,

nunca pude ver escrito tu nombre.

a mi corazón.

So sad it feels forlorn and forsaken. A poem of love unrequited lost somewhere in a past and carried as a burden to the present. It feels almost spiritual. A lovely write and a fave

Captivating words of sadness, of the feeling of unachieved, of a love that eludes oneself. Seeing life go by, knowing the days are numbered...

Carlos, this carries such a quiet ache… the repetition of love never arriving feels heavy but restrained. It doesn’t shout its loneliness, it breathes it. The wind image gives it motion even in stillness. Beautifully done. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
