The great illusion

sorenbarrett

Democracy justice's hypocrisy license for the majority to abuse the minority, creates animosity
Autocracy becomes plutocracy an aristocracy claiming theocracy, a humanistic  atrocity
Socialism diluted communism, capitalism financial totalitarianism, an unplanned horror
Money and power soon freedom devour where the rich grow richer and the poor poorer
Selling comfort at the expense of health only to enhance the economy's wealth, the greatest illusion
Car to take us there, watching television in a cushioned chair atrophy in a dreamer's solution
People the cause, we don't live in Oz, the earth we encumber
No cure in education or legislation, no peace for population of any nation, too many the human number

    "What is truth?"
    (Pontius Pilate)

    • sorenbarrett

Thank you so much for the review and comment it is most appreciated. Truth is what one believes it to be changing with each new discovery.

    • Lorenz

We might as well wash our feet of all these illusions in y and ism ...

      • sorenbarrett

Thanks so much Lorenz I appreciate your read and comment. Yes the dust of the past we can wash off but what new dirt we pick up is yet to be seen.

      • David Wakeling

This covers all the political theories. Some I haven't heard of.The problem with life is too many people and there is no cure in education. For me this is a summary of the human condition with all the problems that entails.Made me think

        • sorenbarrett

Thank you David for the read and comment it is most valued. We have tried all the options now what.

        • Paul Bell

Self serving governments, more billionaires than ever.
You know things are going wrong when the poor pay tax, but the rich avoid it.
Compound that with the world on the move.
Me thinks the people are at the exploding point now.

          • sorenbarrett

Thanks Paul for the read and comment. Yes but with avarice and being short sighted no one seems to care if the world blows up. A rebellion an excuse for genocide and decreasing the population as a gesture of good will to humanity.

            • Paul Bell

Something has to give, the mood of the world is tangible now.

              • sorenbarrett

I feel the fever and fear for my grandchildren

              • nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

                thoroughly enjoyed the read

              • Tristan Robert Lange

Soren, this comes out like a political lament wrapped in rhythm…sharp, relentless, and deliberately confrontational. The sweep across systems feels philosophical more than partisan. It honestly reminds me of Plato’s critique of democracy…rule of the majority slipping into moral erosion. That closing line hits heavy. Well done, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

                • sorenbarrett

Thanks so much Tristan for the review and comparison. Yes when asked what side I support I say none, accused of being an anarchist I deny knowing that doesn't work either I am purely antipolitical and don't ask how that works because it doesn't.

                • Teddy.15

You already know how I feel about today's world and justice and politics (kudos) for your words my friend 🌹

                  • sorenbarrett

Thanks so much for the read Teddy and for the comment it is most appreciated

                  • Doggerel Dave

Yes, I'll largely go along with that, Soren, with a couple of caveats:
As I pointed out a very long time ago – ‘we’ doesn’t hack it; the causes and who caused them has nothing to do with you or me.
I wouldn’t label you an anarchist – you urge total hopelessness, and therefore nothing can be done. ‘Nihilist’ fits you much better.
Just one small final query: What does living or not living in Oz got to do with the price of eggs in Brazil?😂

                    • sorenbarrett

Thanks Dave for the read and comment it is always appreciated. Yes nihilist would be a good term and I would not contest that. As for Oz it was cast as an ideal place searched for by Dorthey governed by a wizard a type of monarchy which if benevolent is debatably the best type of government. Besides in the world of poetry the rhyme worked out.

                      • Doggerel Dave

Apologies - got the wrong Oz....
I shall read your next one with interest and in all probability comment. 'See ya!

                        • sorenbarrett

Look forward to it my friend

                        • Poetic Licence

It appears that truth has always been an illusion to many, those of us who actually seek it are constantly bamboozled in our efforts to find it., as it appears to be redifined day by day. Regarding the feeling of impending doom it felt in this write, it is very hard to look at what is happening around the world and find any hope for our children and grandchildren, I feel as humans we are crossing a line that cannot be reversed, enjoyed the read

                          • sorenbarrett

So good to see you back. Thanks so much for the read and comment. Yes I do worry about the grand kids.

                            • Poetic Licence

                              You are very welcome

Such true words soren, when will the world be fixed!

                              Andy

                              • sorenbarrett

Thank you for the read Andy. It will become fixed when men love others more than they love themselves my friend.

                              • orchidee

Thanks Orchi no food for KP here I wouldn't feed any of these to the devil himself

                                • Awam

political lament written like a curse...'The world is not in need of leaders..it has more than a bakery has crumbs. what's lacking is a functioning conscience.

                                  • sorenbarrett

There seems little of that. Thank you so much Aman for your read and interpretive comment it is deeply appreciated
