A poet's journey

sorenbarrett

Black thoughts, paranoid plots, addiction a self crucifixion drown in anxiety
Psychosis wrapped in neurosis, obsession blanketed in depression lost sobriety
By tongue or lung out of pain art sprung, a paper scraper with a pen
He paints with blood emotion's flood, splashes of ink on a page sink, a holy amen

Sounds like KP on one of her bad-hair days! heehee. A fine write SB.

Thanks for the read Orchi yes it is not always a pleasant situation. There is a cure for bad hair days, shave it all off. I have done that in the past and it is very liberating.

Wow some strong views here.I think this poem is absolutely right.True poets are artists tortured by trying to create the perfect poem. Some well even suffer mental illness.Poets are made from a difficult childhood and that suffering needs to be expressed. This poem is raw and honest.Well done compadre

        • sorenbarrett

Thank you so much David for the read and understanding. A poem is a product of life lived or perceived through sensitive eyes. Whether the life of the poet or that seen in others by him it is life's blood upon a page.

You must solve the riddle posed by the dragon at the threshold before entering the temple of dementia .
Without doing so ,you will remain nothing more than a troubadour of the gentle month of may !

Bleak beauty carved from pain, every line a wound made to breathe.
You bleed the soul onto paper, gritty, unflinching, alive.

Wow Soren. The imagery and emotion in this poem is so vivid. I think youโ€™ve captured exactly why many of us write poetry aside from a hobby, itโ€™s to escape. Very well done.
