Sexual intercourse, a good fuck
Not relevant in a story of love.
Where they combine that’s a matter of luck;
Societal values, command from above,
Attempts at control were really quite stuck
With those whom lust did not fit like a glove.

Would have to agree with this one Dave. I have a pet peeve about the confusion with the word love a vague term used from everything from a favorite car to sex to companionship. Good write my friend.
‘Sorry re tardy response Soren; external but minor distraction.
Many thanks for your support; I think you would know, and my back catalogue would provide the evidence, that this Is one of the bees which buzz around in my bonnet from time to time.. You have summarized my position quite nicely.
Most welcome Dave
See, I am right.
You don't need hair.
The old worlde wisdom -
'Hair won't grow on a busy street.
Oh yeh? Hair won't grow on concrete'.
Composed by Anon about the same time concrete was invented.
Surprisingly, that made me think of a scripture - Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads.
(What that has to do with hair is anyone's guess)
In my life Dave love has always come first before any physical playing.
Andy
Personal preference, Andy. This does not necessarily mean it is the same for others.
But my point is (and at this late stage this should be blindingly obvious) love is an overused term and love and sex are not necessary coincident.
I do believe I've perhaps nagged on about this topic too often and too long, but love poetry, when I see it still sometimes bugs me. (Infatuation and lust yes - love, no.)
Dave, this made me think about how often people assume love and physical desire must always travel together. Your poem pushes back on that assumption with blunt clarity. Sometimes they align, sometimes they do not… and society has always tried to dictate how that should look. The closing line says it plainly. “With those whom lust did not fit like a glove.” Thought-provoking work, as always, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Many thanks ,Tristan. You have divined and analysed my meaning and motivation nicely. I still intend to make the attempt to move on to other topics if it is within my capacity to do so. Your energy seems inexhaustible, so thanks also for keeping an eye on me.😊
Hahaha! I am glad I come across that way. [sips coffee sluggishly]. 🤣 Jokes aside, I am enthusiastic about poetry and this poetry community. It has been a blessing to me and I hope to be the same. So...you're welcome and here's to more of that caffeinated energy! 🤣 Cheers, mate!
Brilliant Dave 👏 👏 👏 You've hit the nail on the head here.
- Syd
Thanks Syd. It was just an attempt to separate and clarify sex and love. Large proportion of the ‘love‘ poetry here is more about the former really when all is busted the following week.
all too often misconceived in my opinion but damned good nevathe less 😎👍
Agreed👍
(missed first time round. Sorry.)
Great work Dave. Lust alone doesn’t write the story—love sneaks in where bodies cannot.
Control falters; the heart bends rules the mind never will.
Sometimes...... Thanks Thomas.
lust is often mistaken for love until one realizes that just physical intimacy does not make for true love..you have made the division between the two obvious for all...
Hey Nafisa,- good to hear from you - I've been keeping my distance after you shouted at me, and couldn't quite work out why... Am I forgiven for whatever it might have been?
Thanks for your call here; you have accurately divined my message - it is an old sore I've rattled on about from several directions, and I'm going to try to leave it alone from now on.
Take care of yourself.
A very good morning from Mumbai and sincere apologies if I have been rude to you- never been my intention to hurt you at any time. It’s I who have to seek forgiveness if I have written anything that could have been interpreted as shouting at you and been avoided, - so pls let’s move forward 👍💅
Have a good day and continue sharing your frank thoughts and opinions- always- we both hate hypocrisy- and I am welcome to frankness at all times 🙏🏼
Block capitals on the net = shouting, that's all. Didn’t understand why or even if it was meant.. Didn't think so, but decided to creep around for a bit. 😄
Take care of yourself.
actually i had put on the capitals for some other message, then forgot to remove them - so obviously not meant to imply anything - my bad - again really sorry for any distress inadvertently caused.
i look forward to your frank [and sometimes provocative] comments [lol] so please feel to share them 365/24/7
you were never meant to be creeping around, and i would rather not be seen as shouting..so take care, relax, and look forward to a peaceful and good weekend
Rodger - over and out.
(oops - back again: Have a good night/day or whatever....)
lol - it's 10.19 am here in mumbai - hot and sultry friday 13th march..
you too have a good night and day ..take care..
