To Praise Or Not?

orchidee

To praise or not?

Praising the Lord can sometimes be a 'sacrifice' of praise

We may not feel like it, or not want to praise

Yet He is the same God, the same Lord

Loving, faithful, true, great, bringing salvation, etc

No need to be envious or jealous of others

Who may have more lively church services

Or more restrained type of praise

Though it's not escapism

From the troubles and trials we all have at times

Not some Cuckoo Land

Of disregarding or ignoring troubles, trials, sufferings

In our own or in other's lives

Whether we seem to have a mostly comfortable life

Or whether it seems one trouble after another

We can still praise.....

And of course we can praise Him inside and outside of church

In our daily lives and situations

Woof! Write some more hymn-poems soon, says Fido to me

Get inspiration again, and get your mojo back

(Though not meaning 'mojo' in any magical sense)

Just wait until I put me earplugs in

Then you can so-called sing - or screech - each one of 'em

About 50 times each

As you usually do!

Heehee.

Orchi you are the Victor Borge of the site, he a master pianist you poetic hymn writer but comedian of the first rate at the same time. Love your style my friend.

Thank you SB. I knew Fido would have to chirp up, and put in his two pennyworth - or for you, two cents worth?!

A honored pleasure my friend, the beloved of the site

Orchi - do you think he needs all that praise? Is he really so very insecure?

          • orchidee

Thank you D. It's said, and written, that God needs no human help or assistance, but choose to include and involve His creatures in His plans. We are 'creatures' too, as humans. I see praise as glorifying God - a theological word maybe, meaning giving Him love, honour, respect, etc. But He is secure in Himself, the Eternal Being, the Ultimately Secure One, etc
Als it says 'What is man (mankind) that you care for them, or bother with them, or look after them? - as some different Bible versions put it.

What is going wrong here, orchi? You gave a perfectly sane and sensible answer to my question. It is just conceivable that I may have some reservations re your answer, but that does not detract from the fact that it is apparently reasonable and comprehensible......................... I do hope all is well.................

Not a hint of Sir Orchi NS, rambling on with twaddle, waffle, totally irrelevant guff?!
Sane and sensible? I must put my NS 'hat' back on and spout more rubbish. lol.

                • Doggerel Dave

Leave the hat in situ, dive into it, and stay there with your little legs waving in the air; that mental image is more satisfying for me than I can adequately explain on this poetry site.....

Orchi, this made me glugging smile…there’s a gentle honesty here about praise not always coming easily, yet still choosing it anyway. That tension feels very real. Fido at the end made me feel safe until...oh now...even he's hearing the glugs now, too. 🤣 A thoughtful and human reflection, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

Thank you T. yes, Fido heard the glugs. Now he's got to go and lie down in a dark room to recover! lol. Probably you and I too!

As you know Orchi I believe that organised religion is a farce and a lie but your god and my god are with us all the time.
