Skyways.

Chris Duffy

I'm heading skyways.
Tired of dead end streets, those dark and lonely highways.
I'm looking to escape to higher ground.
Looking for a place to hide, where I cannot be found.
I'm elevating.
Love has left me incomplete, life has kept me waiting.
Longing to just pack my bags and go.
Far away from people and the places that I know.
I want to blast off.
Shed my broken dreams, make them my cast offs.
I want to turn a page, rewrite the script.
This time I'll be the Captain of my ship.
I want a new start.
To heal my wounds and mend my broken heart.
Not scuppered by detractors nor deserters.
Not left to feel abandoned, lost and worthless.
I'm heading my way.
Reaching for the stars and heading skyways.

A poem of leaving the past and its errors behind and starting a clean slate. Nicely written
