Tune: St Leonard
('May the mind of Christ my Saviour')
Psalm 36 v.7-10
********
How excellent is your mercy
Your loving-kindness to me
O God! Therefore children of men
Shall trust in you then
They shall trust under the shadow
Of your wings, so safety know
And they shall abundantly be
Satisfied freely
Satisfied with all you provide
In your temple you reside
You shall quench their thirst, they shall drink
And on you bethink
Shall drink of the river of your
Pleasure, lasting evermore
For with you there is the fountain
Of life for us men* (*mankind)
In your light we shall true see slight
Appearing clear to our sight
Continue your mercy unto
Us, [your] righteous ways too

Another great hymn of praise Orchi. Does KP like when you sing these to her or does she sing them to you? Well done my friend
Thank you SB. I sing - screech - them to her! lol.
You are most welcome Orchi. Sing away
So how many Graces do you want, orchi? You sound a bit greedy to me......
Thank you D. Lots, lol. All needed.
Excellent.
Thank you T.
My friend, this has that classic hymn cadence that carries the psalm beautifully… it reads like something meant to be sung in a small stone church with light pouring through old glass. The language of refuge and abundance really comes through clearly here.
But somewhere around the second stanza my brain wandered… and now I cannot unsee SpongeBob doing situps in the sanctuary basement aquarium… compressing his sponge belly and making little glug…glug…glug noises with every crunch. I had surely thought is was P and Ol' T at it again, but nope, that wiley sea sponge in tighty whiteys. 🤷♂️🤣
The river of pleasure apparently now sounds like underwater core exercises. 🤣 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Argh! We knew it! We start off all sensible, like a renowned fount of wisdom, etc, then we hear a glug and we're driven to distraction. lol.
Orchi, exactly! We begin as respectable scholars of the psalms (scholmists?)… fountains of wisdom… deep theological insight…
Then one tiny glug echoes through the sanctuary basement aquarium… like blowing bubbles in a tub.
And suddenly SpongeBob is doing situps again.
It is a fragile intellectual ecosystem we maintain.
One glug too many and the whole thing collapses. 🤣🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
What can be done? Eco-warriors may be able to save the planet. But can anything be done about gluggers? lol.
Nope...and there's far more than "greenhouse" gases surfacing...LOL!
Lol.
Good one Orchi.
Thank you Gold.
