sorenbarrett

With a broken wing a bird can sing music a blind man can hear
A clawless cat can still kill a rat that might have lived had it fear
A one armed man can dance and romance with a maiden far or near
But to start or part with a broken heart makes it hard to give one cheer

I am ABLE to say this is a good write SB.
There is a Lenten them and verse that says God does not despise a broken and a contrite heart, though I think this means in a more 'spiritual' sense of being sorry for our sins - a theme often covered in Lent. Not that God wants us to remain sorrowful, broken-hearted, helpless, etc.
Meanwhile - Oh I'm not contrite with KP - I still dish up the sewage with not regret or remorse. And I don't repent, I never turn from it or change it, though she says 'Oh no, sewage again, you wicked sinner!' heehee.

Thanks so much Orchi for the review and kind words of understanding. When you make sacrifice do you take the first fruits from the sewage to offer?

Ohhh yes - dunno why she complains. She gets first pickings. lol.

To me this is about ability and possibilty and the inability of trying with a broken heart. Many of us don't try because we have been put down so often,Very well constructed compadre.Enjoyable read

Thanks so much David you are right about that and I appreciate very much your review and comment my friend

The poem speaks of possibilities one can have in spite of handicaps. Thus, the broken wing does not prevent singing. The blind still has his ears to hear and can hear comments made on him by others. A clawless cat can hold down a rat and finish it of with its teeth. The rat made the mistake of thinking the cat was totally powerless. The one-armed man can not only dance but also wield a handgun --- with the other arm... Both starting with and parting with a broken heart is a handicap that has consequences.

Thank you Soman you have captured it well and elucidated it with clarity. I deeply appreciate your read and comment

Soren, I like how this acknowledges that people can endure and adapt to almost anything… yet emotional wounds sometimes cut deeper than physical ones. That contrast feels very true to my experience and to life itself. Powerful, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

I'm sure a Broken Heart can be mended.

The fundamental contrast is the external, physical to the internal, emotional part of the human being. The theme of the song is a broken heart. Nothing can be done with it, it prevents every step forward, every action and every giving. It causes paralysis and depression. The song contains a hidden warning about treating the heart gently, that is, with love and related emotions.

Thank you Durdica for the review and interpretation. It is most appreciated and valued.
