FOR YOU I PRAYED

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

You didnt want
To say goodbye
Beneath the warm
Summer sky
A tear that hung
In a balanced way
Like a circus act
Gone astray.

The big clock in
The passage way
Noisily ticked
Last words to say
To speak of love
And childrens smiles
How many times
I had made you cry.

Life to share
But death doesnt care
The years have melted
Hearts to bare
Final thoughts
Promises made
Still so much
For you I prayed.

This speaks of fond and not so fond memories that weld into a life missed and a sense of bitter sweet nostalgia. A wonderful poem and a fave

Tears do seem out of place in the brilliantly sunlit summer sky 🙏🏻🕊️
