Tune: Passion Chorale
('O sacred head, sore wounded')
Luke 23 v.26-31
**************
As they led Jesus away
They saw Simon that day
He was of Cyrene, they
Laid on him in the way
Jesus' cross, it to carry
Behind Jesus, heavy
His cross to bear, suffering
For us salvation brings
Great company of people
Bewailed, lamented all
But Jesus turned to them said
You people, with them plead
Weep not for me, but weep for
Yourselves, your children sure
For, behold, days are coming
Which more troubles shall bring
Then they shall say, blessed they who
Are barren, childless, true
For then they to mountains shall
Say, Fall on us, and as well
Say to the hills, Cover us
Hide us from the distress
For now it be as tree green
What shall be when dry [tree] seen?

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 7.6.7.6. 7.6.7.6. A metaphor of those current days being as a 'green tree' and Jesus saying there are more troubles to come, when the days will be as a 'dry tree'.

Orchi, this is beautifully done…there’s a reverence in this that feels steady and grounded from start to finish. It carries the weight of the moment without trying to overpower it…just lets it speak. Really strong, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Also…now I can’t unhear Passion Chorale drifting straight into some kind of papaya cabaret in my head…like Simon of Cyrene just trying to do his job while Popeye’s in the corner spinning fruit and Wimpy’s asking if he can pay Tuesday for a glug burger smoothie today. What a company…what a scene. 😂
Wait? What's in a glug burger smoothie? Check out the recipe Tuesdays on WCAT! 🥬🍈😄🙏
Thank you T. He's done it again - distracted us from sensible, thoughtful comments - from the sublime to the ridiculous in one easy step. But how? Erm, WCAT! lol.
Hahaha. I copied and pasted my own comment in as I didn't like it at first, deleted and revised (because they took the edit away) and I grabbed my name and original post time too to prove it! LOL! Silly me. It's all Popeye's fault I tell you! It's not even hard to blame him, you know?
