Another day

sorenbarrett

The party is over there's clean up to do
Eyes are tired the mess you eschew
Dirty glasses, plates galore
Furniture skewed, debris on the floor

A bed's invitation to drunken dreams
Anxiously accepting a trip up whiskey streams
Feathered throat, head bursting
Others rest I groke for sleep thirsting

  • Comment from author about the poem: Groke- Old English for looking wistfully at something that someone else has as if asking for some. We no longer have a word for this but in our begging and greedy society we probably need the one we lost.

Sometimes the morning after isn't worth the night before. Best to just sip the whiskey. The afterparty is always hard labor. - Phil A.

Thanks so much Phil for the read and kind words of support. I have only had a couple of such nights in my life but they were all I needed

Soren, I’ve felt that kind of morning…the weight of everything after the moment has passed. There’s a restless edge here that feels familiar, like sleep is just out of reach. Powerful write, my friend. Have a great weekend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
