Ignorance In Music.

Goldfinch60

This keeps on happening,

The surprise that music

Brings in my life.

I have been listening to music

For sixty plus years,

All types,

But mainly Classical and Jazz.

I think I know a great deal

About them.

But I don’t!

A friend of mine

Gave me a jazz album,

Of someone I did not know.

It was so good

I played it twice!

I just didn’t believe

What I was hearing

Could be so good.

So yet again it showed

The more I knew about music,

The more ignorant I realise I am.

A great parable for the whole of bloody life IMO.

Andy, the jazz you provided was great. it had a 'move along journey' feel I can really get into. Has that style a name, and can you give me links to any similar compositions? Many thanks.

A great metaphor for life itself, we think we know it but the more we learn the more we find that we know nothing at all. Well written

Good write Gold. I've got all Stockhausen's music - so you won't have to hear it! lol.

            • Doggerel Dave

There's a depth to you orchi, I rarely see........

              • orchidee

When did ya last see me being 'deep'. Once every 28 years or so?! lol

                • Doggerel Dave

Then savor them moments; study the circumstances which facilitated their arrival in full flower. There may be room for an increase in their occurrence rate with a little application. I'm pleading with you orchi, I cannot just stand by and see such talent extinguish itself in so untimely a manner.

                  • Goldfinch60

                    Thank you Orchi.

Dave the Stockhausen reference is about a comment by Sir Thomas Beecham, when asked if he hd ever conducted any of Stockhausen's music his replay was "No I haven't but I have trod in some!"

Oh dear. There's a whole world bubbling under the surface of music of which I was totally unaware,
Andy - I'm going to pop back uptop and seek your advice; 'see you there...
