poemโ€™s manifesto

arqios

poem's manifesto

I begin before you arrive,

standing in my own structure,

refusing a single doorway

yet welcoming the reader who listens,

enduring the reader who arrives armed,

keeping my interior weather intact

and remaining unfinished by design,

answering only to the line

and walking beside the reader who trusts uncertainty,

finally continuing beyond the final word.

A good poem does continue beyond the final word, sometimes it endures.

And those that endure and resurge seasonally are such gems. Thanks, Katie B๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Nicely done. You emphasize the idea of poetry as an open space that invites interpretation and interaction.

My friend, I was especially drawn to the ending. โ€œContinuing beyond the final wordโ€ captures something true about the best poems...they don't really end when the text stops. They continue unfolding in the reader long afterward. Beautiful piece, Arqios. ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ๐Ÿฆโ€โฌ›
