Energy Elegy

"Energy Elegy"

Enter thou into thine kingdom:
squalid passion, exquisite suffering.
An energy elegy, an action elixir,
this word-wallowing.

Behold the rawness of combustive elements,
an unencumbered incarceration—
Boz in Boss, The Frozen Deep.
Estranged from panic and pleasures,
lost in implacable carelessness.
Carelessnesses.

Through evocative permeations,
and permutative punctuality,
he proceeded to touch me—
if only with his words.

He kidnaps the Southern Cross.
High above the gantry,
see how we so quickly forget
the wounded inactivity of the River Dark,
its sable swabs streaming,
whispering private agonies.

Equilibrate, you paragon of madness,
deeply intrusive, intuitive.
The coal train rolls past,
unencumbered secrets a dead giveaway.
An expiration date
stamped on an effusive attachment.

This poem mines deep below the surface for its fuel. Rich in symbolism and punctuated with alliteration and metaphor it speaks well to its title.

Rik, what an evocative write. The language carries its own momentum, moving between abstraction and vivid imagery while creating a world that feels both intellectual and deeply emotional. It's the kind of poem that reveals something different each time through, and I appreciate that quality immensely. Excellent work, my friend. πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦β€β¬›

Where is this place of which you speak, estranged from panic and pleasure? Both can be evoked by the Southern Cross or missed by carelessness. Well spoken.
