Do you still stand
Cigarette in hand
Wine glass for company
Deep thoughts banned ?
For fear of emotion
When all else has failed
A twilight world distant
A reality untamed.
Do you look to a future
Which you doubt very much ?
For years they are shortened
So few as such
Does the echo of silence
Take hold of your hand
Lead you away
From where mortality stands.
The sound of heavy industry
In violence fills air
You notice but ignore
Acknowledgement a chore
Somewhere deep down
You are still the same
A sweet charming person
Whom life it has claimed.

Good write N. That bus there yet?! lol.
not yet, brought a chair sandwiches and coffee and waiting lol
Ah good lol.
We are masks, shells, pretend beings but inside we are who we have always been. Nicely written
much appreciated read, thanking you
You are most welcome Norman
A much enjoyed read, Norman 🕊️🙏🏻
thanking you always appreciated
most welcome, as always🕊️🙏🏻
Norman, there’s a quiet heaviness to this…like sitting with yourself when everything slows down. That opening image really sets it…holding things back just enough to get through the moment. I’ve known that space too, where it all stays just under the surface. This lands as honest and reflective. Strong write, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
most kind comments, many thanks, always appreciated
Very fine words Norman, I hope that I am still that good person I have always tried to be.
