A LONELY RIVER

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

Does water weep ?
Upon its way
A lonely river
A deserted day
Idle teardrops
From  rainy skies
Fall and disperse
From hidden eyes.

Does water dream ?
A prayer to say
To highest Heaven
As it flows away
Journey repeated
To rolling seas
To return
Upon the breeze.

Does water love ?
Or with cradled hands
Hold tender thoughts
Of churning sands
Its rippled courage
To brave again
Its endless journey
Repeat the same.

Water can show us all emotions Norman we just need to realise that.

Good write N. You could take a canoe on the river and paddle to town instead of waiting for that bus for 3 hours. lol.

The personification of water is most poetic in this write. Lovely Norman

  • Tristan Robert Lange

Norman, this carries a steady, reflective current…those questions about weeping, dreaming, loving all fold into that endless return. It feels like more than observation…like you’re giving the water a voice without forcing it. Well written. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

Water, liquid gold that we maybe take for granted.

Well done. Your poem explores the personification of water, pondering its emotional and existential qualities. It raises questions about water's capacity to feel—whether it can weep, dream, or love—thus inviting readers to reflect on the nature of existence and the interconnectedness of life.
