Gone

sorenbarrett

I moved leaving everything behind, taking only smoke visions and dreams
A conscience soothed into a new world blind, where nothing is what it seems
Lighter than air the burden I bear, skies free of dark clouds
Striped bare I wander there in the lee of any crowds

Most beautiful, to be freed to wander without a care in the world, I did this once iny life and I'm still on that cloud! ๐ŸŒน

Nicely written. Your poem revolves around the act of moving on from oneโ€™s past, leaving behind physical possessions and emotional baggage. It touches upon themes of transformation, self-discovery, and the contrast between reality and illusion.

There is an immediate benefit from escaping oneโ€™s past and inner conflict thereby creating a sense of real lightness, but it may also lead to disconnection, unreality, and a loss of grounded identity. It appears that it never is a win-win ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ™

Thank you Cryptic for your insight and yes there is a duality in all things a plus and minus but as I see it a transformation a type of metamorphosis that brings with it change to other states where lingering memories of what was good and enjoyed in the past is replaced with what is good and enjoyed in the present state.

You should have given me a call, I could do with escaping.
I wonder how many people have done just that, just thought to themselves, stuff this I'm off.

Itโ€™s a strong piece, capturing that disoriented, post-escape feeling really well. The mix of lightness and loneliness comes through clearly. Very well written!!!

Soren, that sense of carrying something weightless yet present really stands outโ€ฆ it gives the whole piece a drifting, almost untethered feeling. It stays with you. Nicely done, my friend. ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ๐Ÿฆโ€โฌ›

leaving behind the baggage of the past, and moving forward courageously with only the memories embedded in your mind - this is a bold and brave step in the right direction - bravo !
