Lunacy in a bottle

sorenbarrett

Juice of the vine, distilled dreams, Satan's blood, liquid laughter of fools
Mirth divine, naked screams, Chardonnay of mud, Champagne rainbow pools

Alcohol is a killer. Such a sad life depending on the bottle.Very strong feelings here

    • sorenbarrett

Thank you David for the read. I do take a drink from time to time and see no problem with moderation it is the excess that is a problem and so many lack control

Feels like a toast poured straight from the gutter and the heavens at once—sweet rot and shine tangled together.
There’s a wild pulse in it, like laughter that knows it might turn on you before the night’s through.

Thomas I thank you most humbly for your comment that is more poetic than the poem

      • Friendship

This poet speaks as the Devil's Advocate,
This poem revolves around the duality of alcohol—its ability to bring, simultaneously leading to chaos and madness. encompasses the intoxicating effects of wine and other alcoholic beverages, exploring themes of escapism, revelry, and the darker aspects of indulgence.
The words you used are vivid and evocative, employing a mix of contrasting imagery. Phrases such as "Satan's blood," "liquid laughter of fools," and "naked screams" suggest a tumultuous relationship with alcohol, highlighting both the euphoric and destructive aspects.

Spot on Friendship. Yes alcohol like all else has a duality of good and bad aspects. So glad you caught that my friend thanks for the read and interpretation

Splendid little things like this make me feel giddy .. Neville

            • sorenbarrett

Thanks Neville I appreciate the read. I have been drunk and giddy a few times in this life and so far have been very fortunate not to fall into disaster.

Soren…what a vivid rush this is. Wine, dreams, screams, laughter, mud, rainbows…everything feels simultaneously divine and decayed, like a feast happening at the edge of collapse. And somehow you make it playful while still carrying that darker undercurrent beneath it all. For me, alcohol is a demon…so I no longer drink…for others an occasional enjoyment. Too many, in my experience, shift from the latter to the former without ever realizing it until it is too late. Really strong and relatable, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

Thanks so much Tristan yes I enjoy a drink once in a while and usually know my limit but there have been a few times I have gone over and been very lucky not to pay seriously for it.

I don't drink anything stronger than Pop: But then Pop drinks like a Fish..
A fine Poem on the dangers of the Demon Drink.

                  • sorenbarrett

Thanks so much Kevin I guess he drinks a lot of water then. I drink a beer or glass of wine for dinner but seldom more.
