Tune: St Timothy
('O Holy Ghost, thy people bless')
John 16 v.13-15 and v.24
***********
When He, the Spirit of truth is
Come, He will guide you, this
Shall be so, He will guide you in
All truth, but not to sin
For He shall not speak of Himself
But of the Father's wealth
Whatsoever He shall hear, He
Shall speak, show things, so be
Show things to come, shall glorify
Jesus, Him not deny
He shall receive of Jesus' things
Shall show us, then He brings
All things that the Father has are
Jesus', near, not far
Therefore the Spirit He shall take
Of Jesus' things, and make
Make them known to us, He says to
Ask* in His (Jesus') name, so do
And we shall receive, our joy shall
Be full, prosper we well

Ah, tharr she blows! Pentecost is coming and the gear up is rogating 🕊️🙏
Thank you A. For 'oldies' is it also called Whitsun?!
Oh true, hadn’t thought of that in years🕊️🙏🏻
There was the Bank Holiday (one day off) that used to be called Whit Monday. But it doesn\'t always work out. The Bank Holiday is last Monday in May in UK, but Whitsun/Pentecost depends on the date of Easter, which changes every year. Oh, we also have the first Monday in May as a Bank Holiday in the UK.
* to ask = from ' rogare', for Rogation Sunday.
Relax O Wise One - your task is complete. You have completely confused a recalcitrant heathen who has not the slightest notion of that about which you sing.
How does a simple unambiguous word like 'ask' get to rogate, is wot I wanter know....
Well, it derives from the Latin 'rogare'. Of course I consulted Fido for that, as he's expert in 57 languages! The only other bit of Latin I know is 'bonjour'. Eh?!
I thank ye for the comprehensiveness of yor reply, Sire.
Notice Sir Orchi going off on a NS tangent again?! He dunno what's Latin, French, or Hindustani (random languages selected there). Ye wise one is Fido, who knows 99% of everything.
A good one Orchi ask and ye shall receive.
Thank you SB. Yes, though KP never asks for sewage, that's what she receives. heehee.
Most welcome Orchi
Good one Orchi.
Thank you Gold.
What really stayed with me here, Orchi, is “For He shall not speak of Himself.” There’s such humility and theological depth packed into that section. The whole piece feels prayerful without losing its poetic rhythm. Beautifully done, my friend.
Now pass the communion glug chalice before Popeyeus Maximus Solus drinks the entire green liturgy again. 🍷
Thank you T. Popeye always speaks of himself - he mostly says 'glug!' lol.
