Post-It Note

Doggerel Dave

I spy with my little eye

Infiltration by Ay Aye.

              ***

This here Post-It note aspires to be a

Poem, though yet an aid to memory;

A serious matter at end of day

Reminder: pops up everywhere you see…

              ***

You prompt it and AI will natter;

By virtue of it’s role it has no heart

So ask yourself does that really matter?

You answer ‘no’? Then maybe we should part...

  • Comment from author about the poem: AI is not just confined to what I consider to be a notorious ‘poet’ here but infiltrates itself in a small response here and there. And being a little fixed in my ways sometimes, I’m not prepared to converse with a non-human intelligence which doesn’t identify themself as such…

So true Dave buy you talk to me . LOL

    Andy

    • Doggerel Dave

Got to buy time with you now do I? I will leave you to write another sonnet while I go sort your confederate below out...

    • orchidee

Aye, ai, Captain! But yes, why you still talking to Goldfinch and me? We're of non-human intelligence! Since when was Sir Orchi NS human?
Days were when AI only meant summat artificial to do with cows and bulls.
Oh also, Ai is a Biblical town of old - it got destroyed. Doh!

      • Doggerel Dave

Nah - you have many times told me you are half human, and when there are not many of us left, that's good enuf for me.
With respect to your Biblical town, I defer to your expertise in this area. Please don't give me the coordinates - when it's gone, it's gone.
And finally on the subject of Artificial Insemination, my knowledge is scant. So a display of your expertise in this area would be more than welcome.

        • orchidee

Oh I dunno - unaccustomed as I am, not expert in the other AI matter!
The intelligence of AI has helped me at times though, but I don't use it for comments on poems. Whether others do? - well, I dunno that either.

          • Doggerel Dave

All that extra information... Both you and Andy are real sports for turning up here at all - and I get a bonus.

          • orchidee

Notice my witticism - I wrote a post-it note, then posted it - so I forgot what I wrote on it. Doh!

            • Doggerel Dave

Probably for the best, orchi - forgetting I find can be a very useful way out of difficult situations...

No heart is where it’s at, ground zero of the mind.

              • Doggerel Dave

Think I'll go with that. I ask if Ai is used, why bother?
                Thanks for calling in.

              • sorenbarrett

Call it fraud or plagiarism what ever you like it is a deception and a lie I would have to side with you on this one Dave

                • Doggerel Dave

                  Thanks for your support, Soren.
                  And implications for MPS?

                  • sorenbarrett

You are welcome Dave I do not use AI and would suggest that others if they do note it as such

                    • Doggerel Dave

You certainly remain neutral on certain topics, and perhaps that is a good strategy if it means you retain your status here.

                      • sorenbarrett

Semi neutral I am on some things Dave but let it be known I do not like AI and have concerns that it will be the change if not downfall of many things from labor force, to scams, to art and who knows the downfall of life as we know it.

                        • Doggerel Dave

We'll see - but as with everything else, the right sentiments are a small start, however, it is action which counts in the end.

What gets me is that : Are you a Human'? or 'How many Cars in this Grid'?

                          • Doggerel Dave

For a moment or two I couldn't relate cars... and then it came to me: I haven't encountered those grid pictures for a while. Like much of the 'net it was someone's bright idea until a seven year old did a work around.
Anyway what have ye to say about the state of play at MPS?

                            • Kevin Hulme

Get the Grids every Now and Then.
                              No problem with MPS.

I truly believe there is a place for everything .. except for that fake tanned B over tother side of the Pond and AI in poetry .. or any of the arts for that matter .. Neville

It is creeping up. I don't know much about formal grammar, but it seems to have reached a reasonable level of coherence, albeit detectably formulaic if you happen across much of it.

A sharp little mirror this one—turned just enough to make the reader question where meaning actually sits.
There’s grit in the humour, too: like intelligence and irony sharing the same cigarette under a streetlight.

And there you are, chucking a metaphor at me, though despite myself I quite like it...
                                  Thanks for your support, Thomas.

I spy AI everywhere too but i can never be 100% sure someone used it. I never use AI as my poems are already long written long before AI was invented.
Your poem is a fantastic jab at AI. Kudos!
Plz also read and comment my newest poem too

agree with you on this - i do not subscribe to AI and if my verse is not the best - it is at least straight from my mind and heart to my poems...not AI generated thankfully
wishing you more power to your pen and thoughts ...take care

                                  • Doggerel Dave

I will - thanks for your support; 'see you next time.

Hi Dave, AI writing is so easy to spot in my opinion. Morse code poetry I call it. So many of these dashes - but the longer ones. I believe in the American language they are used instead of commas but I could be wrong. Also, look for perfect meter and rhyme, all filler no substance. Human written verses tend to be clunky with an uneven syllable count. I use AI to create music for what I've written but it's so easy to be labelled an arsonist if you play with fire. It's a tightrope.

                                    I hope you're keeping well - Syd
