Tune: Llanfair

('Hail the day that sees Him rise')

Acts 1 v.8-11

********

You shall receive power when - Alleluia!

The Holy Spirit comes then - Alleluia!

He shall come upon and be - Alleluia!

Within you too, this here see - Alleluia!

And you shall be witnesses - Alleluia!

Unto me, Jesus said this - Alleluia!

Witnesses to the earth's ends - Alleluia!

He the Spirit to us sends - Alleluia!

When He had said so, Behold - Alleluia!

He was taken up, it told - Alleluia!

To heaven, a cloud received - Alleluia!

Him from their sight, it decreed - Alleluia!

Disciples looked steadfastly - Alleluia!

To heaven, this view did see - Alleluia!

Then two men in white clothing - Alleluia!

A message to them did bring - Alleluia!

The said, Men of Galilee - Alleluia!

Why do you gaze earnestly - Alleluia!

Looking up into heaven? - Alleluia!

Jesus has ascended then - Alleluia!

This same Jesus shall return - Alleluia!

In the same way, of this learn - Alleluia!

On the clouds gloriously - Alleluia!

This your eternal hope be - Alleluia!

Thank you Gold. I didn't go into details of it defying gravity!

My friend, I really liked how naturally the Acts passage settles into the hymn structure here…especially “Men of Galilee / Why do you gaze earnestly.” Though admittedly I now picture poor Scooby trying to howl “Alleluia” in proper meter while Mr. P. Solus insists the cloud imagery is “deeply gluggological” 🤣☁️🖤🙏

We knew he would sneak in and ruin everything as usual! heehee. Who IS Mr P. Solus? WCAT - find out there; it never tells us anything! lol.
