THIS LONELY STREET

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

A distant streetlight
Seems to call your name
Its flickering
Vibrates the pain
Its angled shadow
Layed to ground
The silence echoes
So very loud.

A deserted street
Patched with rain
An express train
Within the brain
Battered hopes
Forlorn dreams
In gutters move
In thoughtful streams.

A heartbeat flutters
Without a friend
Its noble attempt
To transcend
This bitter pain
Its gnawing teeth
Of tragic loss
This lonely street.

A vivid image poetically painted but there may be more in metaphor in this cold and desolate picture where the inner workings of the individual may be represented. Well done Norman

A quite familiar street scene in expressive poetry🕊️🙏

My friend, “The silence echoes / So very loud” lands beautifully. It captures that strange emotional paradox where isolation itself becomes overwhelming noise inside the mind. Strong piece, Norman. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

    Good write N.
Why, yes, we know why it's a lonely street - they all got tired of waiting for the bus and went home - or walked to town! lol. You thought you saw a No 7 bus, but it was only in your dreams? lol.
