I talked to my ancestors.
They asked about life today,
And I said the world had changed.
It was no longer like yesterday.
I said the world had changed,
Much in ways we now despise,
For we see the lighted pathways
Through people we can’t recognize.
But indeed, the world has changed.
It has turned toward the good,
And the earth is now learning
From what it once misunderstood.
We are becoming much better,
Though perhaps, from the outside,
Looks have become concealing
Of all the rot inside.
One thing about the world,
The one and only rule,
Is that nothing is given to you
Unless you let it take from you too.
Perhaps if we all listened
To the voices that have called,
We would change what lies inside
And give the world our all.
I talked to my ancestors,
And they were indeed left appalled
By the world that has now changed
Into the dreams of ages past.

nicely written.Cindy
Thank you
The world has turned toward the good ? Your ingenuousness deserves a fav !
I appreciate it!
Indeed I have asked myself what people from the past would think of today's world and I can only imagine what their response might be. Well written
The people of the future would also wonder one day of how we would view their world. It is fascinating to think about how every generation sees itself as modern, while eventually becoming part of history itself. And thank you for the read.
You are most welcome and yes as a mere link in a chain we see ourselves as unique and modern but are we?
Each generation sees itself as modern until it looks ahead and meets the next. In the end, we’re all just links in a chain, shaped by what came before us and shaping what comes after.
Such a beautiful writing, definitely made me think
I greatly appreciate it!
