Tune: Down Ampney
('Come down, O love divine')
Acts 2 v.1-21 parts
*******
Spirit of truth and love
Life-giving holy dove
Come reside in us, our hearts to you encove
Fill us here wit hyour power
Which we need every hour
Pour out your graces, gifts to us endower
Come as of old like fire
Our lives with faith inspire
To be your witnesses to all, near and far
Your promised Pentecost
To us, redeems the lost
When the Son gave His life for us at great cost
Now resurrected He
Has ascended, so be
And the Holy Spirit sent to us truly
For Jesus He now be
Glorified lastingly
Brings mankind freedom, from sin brings liberty
Signs and wonders now show
We pray, you we shall know
Through prophecies, visions, dreams that you bestow
And whosoe'er shall call
On the Lord, one and all
Shall be saved, He not fail us, we shall not fall

nicely done
Thank you F.
Good hymn Orchi and most appropriate. Well done my friend
Thank you SB.
Most welcome Orchi
Good one Orchi.
Thank you Gold.
Good write O. 🙏🕊️
Thank you A.
My friend, this reminded me of those hymns that somehow feel both ancient and alive at the same time…the kind sung softly but carrying enormous weight underneath them. There’s a gentleness here that fits Pentecost beautifully. Also…”encove” sounds delightfully Orchi-esque and now my brain imagines Popeyeus Glug Maximus Solus attempting to sing liturgy while trapped inside a nautical grammar vortex. A certain dog is facepalming, "Ruh-roh". 🤣 Strong and heartfelt writing, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Thank you T. Will Popeye spoil it?lol. \'Encove\' is a word, I think - from \'covenant\'. Original hymn is about 600 years old.
another fine hymn poem from what I imagine must be the worlds largest hymn poem portfolio in the entire uni-verse .. Neville
Thank you N. But I've not surpassed Charles Wesley's apx.9,000 hymns - the total of his published and unpublished hymns.
Okay, had to google pentecost.
Now I realise I did'nt get the holiday.
Heads will roll.
Thank you P. lol.
