Beneath The Bruises
Just because she
doesn’t say it ..
It doesn’t mean
that its
not thought
and just because
she doesn’t
cry none, it don’t
mean that
she’s no longer
hurting anymore ..
Take it
from me, from
someone
that knows her ..
For beneath
the many bruises,
something
is awakening but
as yet, it
just stirs so gentle
and quietly,
some might well
call it pride ..
Whereas I call it
dignity,
though of course,
both would
do very nicely
indeed, since she
is already
burnt out and all
but broken
and wasted, yet
above all,
she does remain
so much
a woman, a wife,
daughter
and a mother ..
Oh’ dear lord yes
and maybe
she is, after all
someone’s muse
a very
special friend
and though tired,
she still wants
nothing more than
for once to
be somebody’s lover ..

So sensitive and real this poem touches the needs of an aging woman in a relationship that has worn too comfortable in its use and lost the shine of magic that is the dream of every young girl. So nicely done Neville a fave

True and strong. Personhood manifests in many various ways. To recognise that and esteem accordingly is an excellent first step in every encounter with others. ποΈπ

Nicely written. Your poem addresses themes of suffering, strength, identity, and the longing for love and connection. It reflects on the woman's experience of pain, resilience, and the desire to be cherished and recognized.
I am indeed most grateful to you for the visit and subsequent analysis .. thank you Friendship .. Neville ππ»
Sensitive write Neville, if only all were good in our world.

Now wouldn't that be a thing .. Cheers, Neville
Neville, βsomething / is awakening but / as yet, it / just stirs so gentle / and quietlyβ is the passage that stayed with me most. That slow awakening of selfhood and dignity feels incredibly real here...fragile, but alive. Powerful work, my friend. πΉπ€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬

Thereβs a deep tenderness hereβseeing her not as broken, but as something still quietly rising.
Feels like dignity holding the line⦠even when everything else has already given way.
thanks again Thomas .. Neville
