Some Lonely Mornings
Some lonely mornings when I’m down
I wake to find that you‘ve come ’round.
Like sunshine on my rainy day
your love can chase my blues away.
My heart was broken but now it’s whole.
You cured my heart and stole my soul.
Some lonely mornings when I’m down
I wake to find I’m all alone
with rain pounding against my window.
My heart’s torn on which way to go
should I face this rainy day
or should I cry the day away.
Some lonely mornings when I’m down
you wake me with the kiss I’ve known.
You make eggs on my camper stove
then you leave and I doubt your love.
You’re like a mystery, writing my history
You come, then go, leaving me in misery.
One lonely morning when I was down
I thought I might make you my own
but I found your note that said you were gone for good
that it was a passing thing, and you hoped I understood.
I tore the note into a million pieces
cursed your name, and missed your kisses.
Now, on lonely mornings when I arise
My new love groans and I see her tired eyes
I make breakfast on our new stove
I feed the kids and return to my love
Her love is like none I’ve ever known
and I realize there will never be
another lonely morning for me.
